Betty Fortino Phoenix "Rising Above Challenge" Scholarship Program


For Waterford School District High School Seniors Graduating June 2020

Applications are being accepted June 1, 2019 – September 30, 2019


Betty Fortino, former Waterford Township clerk and Waterford community resident, was actively involved with Waterford Youth Assistance for 30 years. Until her death in June 2011, Betty served as the Youth Recognition chairperson. In her honor, Waterford Youth Assistance and her immediate family select a Waterford student to receive the Betty Fortino scholarship based on community service and involvement. 

Each year one scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1,000.00 that is made payable directly to the recipient’s school of choice. Applications can be obtained from Waterford Youth Assistance, high school counseling office or at the link below for you to print at home.

Applicant must be a high school student who is entering their senior year for the 2019-2020 school year, who is actively attending school and lives within the boundaries of the Waterford School District.  Applicants must be a resident of the Waterford School District. A copy of school transcript for the last year attended must be included with this application. Please submit completed applications no later than September 30, 2019 to the Waterford Youth Assistance office.
